As my friend said, If only partner had held Ax of clubs the hand would have been easy. The club finesse is an illusion, you should just play clubA and another club at tricks two and three - keeping you one step ahead in establishing the suit. East wins and returns a trump but South wins in hand and ruffs a club with spadeA. A diamond is ruffed in hand, the last trump drawn and a club conceded. South eventually loses just two clubs and one heart.
