At our table declarer took an extraordinary if ultimately successful line. He rose with heartA(!), cashed two top spades to confirm that they were breaking and passed heartQ back to me. What should I do? I misjudged badly to win and switch to diamond10, making it very easy for him. Had I ducked, declarer would probably run the spades subjecting both himself and me to a twin strip squeeze in three suits. Declarer could throw two hearts whereas I would be forced to throw minor suit cards. Whether South would have read the situation or guessed correctly, we will never know, but why he didn't play low at trick one???!! Would have saved loads of hassle all round! Meanwhile ....
