With only six top tricks there can be little serious alternative to attacking diamonds, so the first thing to do is lead diamond3 from dummy and see if North is asleep. If he fails to see the danger of following with diamond2 then you can be sure of ducking the trick to South. As the cards lay, declarer can always do this and South will have to win and switch to a spade or exit with another diamond, giving you more opportunity to suss out the hand.

But let's say you play three rounds of diamonds, finding that North started with diamondQ72 and he exits with a club...
