It's a straightforward choice between a simple raise to 3NT and a forcing 3. This latter alternative classically shows a suitability for a trump contract and gives East the choice between going on to 4 with a five card heart suit or reverting to 3NT. So it's 3 from West then.. I'm not so sure, with merely three small hearts, useful intermediates and an extra trick to find in 4 I wouldn't be at all surprised if many opted for the pragmatist's choice of 3NT. Any rubber bridge players out there with an opinion?

At the table, West bid 3 but it made absolutely no difference because East reverted to 3NT anyway! How do you play from the East hand on 5 lead? North plays 2 on dummy's queen.
