Hand 2 is rendered much more straightforward by modern style. 2spade would be game-forcing in almost everyone's book, so there is no earthly reason why we should not re-emphasise the primary feature our hand - the club suit.

Joe's verdict: Many hands occur, nonetheless, where after a reverse you would like to show your partner that you have a very good suit and it becomes very contorted and tangled if you start wafting through a fourth suit sequence. Even if the bid is played as non-forcing I still think it is right. The hand is not likely to make 3NT unless partner makes some further move over 3club..
