First of all, see what happened. Declarer won the opening lead in dummy to ditch a club loser. A trump went to the ten, jack and queen and East switched to a low spade. Not wishing to lose a spade, a club and a spade ruff, declarer Bob Hamman went up with spadeA! He ruffed a diamond and cashed heartA, and when the king dropped his game was safe - losing just one trick in spades, one in hearts and one in clubs.
