At other tables West found the technically correct "Crook" lead of 2 from this particular combination, and declarer played with the odds by inserting the eight from dummy. After all, the combined chances of East holding
Kxx and
Qxx were twice as high as him having
10xx. Declarer ducked two diamonds and eventually tried the double chance in hearts. First he led small to the queen, and eventually took a finesse of the ten. When both these lost, he had to go down.
