If you were playing against good players you might be thinking seriously of going up with the king in an attempt to either block the suit or even to drop the queen. Good players sitting East would not have played the ace from an original holding of AQxxx, but merely ducked to retain a further entry from partner's hand.

Our declarer knew what he was doing when he played the ten, and when West followed with heart2 he looked forward to a straightforward nine tricks.
