Seeing an opportunity for a little subterfuge, South followed first with 9, and when East continued the suit,

was missing, and as the four would have been the normal continuation from a partner holding
A42, West concluded that declarer must have started with
Q9 alone. He therefore ducked at trick two to retain a convenient "entry" from his partner's hand.
Having gained the advantage of being able to make West play in second position, South played a club to the nine, ten and jack. Unable to lead a heart, East returned a spade to West's king and dummy's ace...
