I'm sure that you reached mentally for the green Pass card from the bidding box, didn't you? The boy Bowyer was "not wholly enthusiastic" about North's actual 2spade bid but he seemed quite content that the punishment was rapid and fulsome. His partner, who was likely to have a better hand, raised confidently to 4spade. When this was doubled by East, South redoubled confidently.
