What about leading heart8 at trick two!!!??? East will not make the mistake of covering this - but look what happens. South exits with a spade and wins West's club continuation with clubK in dummy as before, but now he can lead a low heart towards the seven. Declarer covers whatever East plays, ruffs a low spade with heartA and now is back into his favourite trump-drawing position. As Craig points out, this line must be better than playing a spade at trick two - West might have had spadeJ109xxx heartx diamondAQxx clubxx - in which case South would have gone off in a solid one. East wins spadeA, fires back a diamond and gets a third round diamond ruff.

To be able to foresee the requirement for such an unblocking play, even after the event, would mean that this particular 7NoTrumps.com visitor is an extremely dangerous opponent. I'm sure he'll understand when I say that I'm glad that the Atlantic Ocean stands between us.
