Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts
Oh yes. Try the effect of a diamond lead, which removes dummy's entry to the long club. Now if West has steel like nerves and can play low on the Club lead from the dummy declarer can't quite do it. So to beat a grand slam one defender has to lead away from a king and the other defender has not to play his ace at the first opportunity. Maybe bridge is not such an easy game.

So was 18 IMPs enough to win the match? No, in a truly wild set of boards the opponents still managed to hold on to enough of their lead, sneaking through to the next round.
