Partner's 1heart would almost certainly show five hearts or a stronger, balanced shape - the only possible exception being 1444 - so 4heart was always going to be the likely destination. 2NT would seem to show a minimum 1543 type of hand, but in the meantime it seemed that 3spade from my hand would show six spades and offer 3NT as a possible alternative if partner's hearts were poor and minors very good.
