North won diamondA and cashed spadeKQ without unblocking spade8, even though East had started with the singleton nine. When East threw a club North then switched his attention to hearts and a small heart to the jack held. On a low heart West discarded a diamond and yet another when East continued with heart10! A heart was ruffed with spadeA and West pitched a third diamond.

Despite the failure to unblock spade8 - West's trumps could have been drawn by finessing against spade10 - North still had a chance.

How would you have staggered home with ten tricks after this?
