When this second heart produces the queen from East, because of Restricted Choice inferences (East might have played heartJ holding both honours) South can continue with heart7, nervously hopeful of finding West with the jack. Say West wins and finds the best switch of a diamond. South will rise with the king from dummy so East wins the ace and plays a spade. Although spade10 loses, South still has a final chance of finding clubQxx with West.

At the table South went for a straightforward diamond to the king at trick two. East knew what to do.
