Because of the bizarre bidding the viewgraph operators were assuming that the wrong hand had been put on the table and were hastily scrolling through the set to see which hand it was. South had, of course, he thought he'd opened 1diamond with the bidding box . until he saw 4heart appear opposite. As VuGraph commentator Paul Bowyer suggested .... "surely South's best shot is 4NT over 4heart, hoping for 5diamond from partner.... now a moment of amusement as you Pass and table the dummy!". As it happens, playing the popular RKCB, North would have responded 5heart to show two key cards. (Oddly enough, he would have thought hearts the agreed suit...). Anyway, you are no worse off after this start - 6NT can be bid anytime. Even before West had made his lead Paul had pointed out that 6NT was in with a shout. Prophetic words!

Peter G. had been moaning about the lack of a left handed box before this hand even appeared. A helper wandered into the room at the close of this hand and asked innocently "Do you still want this left handed box?" As PG was still adding up the score the two opponents were nodding vigorously and pointing out exactly on the table where it should sit!
