As you can now see, playing two rounds of spades is (and was!) FATAL. Declarer won, cashed diamondA, crossed to clubA, pitched a spade on heartK and picked up the diamonds courtesy of the finesse. An initial Club lead initially would have netted 1400 or so, but as it was the cost was -1680. As the English NS pair had bid 5diamond and made plus one the cost was -14 instead of +19. All this on VuGraph too.... the audience was highly amused.
