# 17-18 with 3 spades

It looks as if LHO has only two spades and three clubs so he must be favourite to have diamond length, so lead a small diamond from dummy to the eight and ten. West leads heartQ which you ruff in hand and draw the last trump. You now have a full count - West is proven to be 2-4-4-3. Declarer Nick Stevens decided that East would not have played low from diamondKx, so he led diamondQ to pin the jack on his right for a big 420.

Why buses? Well, after not encountering an intra-finesse play for absolutely ages, two arrive together! See the article from 08/02/2004. Incidentally .
