Declarer played low and East won with the jack before cashing spadeA and switching to club3. Noting that the opposition had only 17 high card points, Arnaud suspected that both opponents were bidding light because they had been holding very poor cards throughout the session and were bored! (Arnaud's description was more colourful!) Wondering which of the missing queens West held, he won clubA and led a small heart to the jack and queen. Another club was won by the king and declarer played heart9 to see heart7 appear on his left.
