Right, how to play this trump suit? If you take a first round finesse then of course you pick up queen to three onside but you lose out if West has Qx. Could he have overcalled with five diamonds and nothing else apart from a jack or two? Playing trumps from the top is certainly a play which merits consideration. However there are some trump coup possibilities against East. If the first round finesse works and both follow to the second, then you can play East for
Qxxx and attempt to shorten your trumps by two. This will require you to play a spade to dummy, ruff a spade, club to table, ruff a fourth round of spades. After entering dummy with a club your
KJ will remain over East's
