In this way he might have deceived West in the three card end position into believing that he was protecting heartKx along with clubA. In this ending West can exit with clubQ to end-play South at trick twelve. What had he to lose? Registering minus 1390 wasn't a triumph when his more successful counterpart in the other room opened with a semi-psychic 2club. He was eventually allowed to play in 5club undoubled!
