I forgot to ask why Rick had decided to suppress his club suit, but his actual choice had worked out very well after the non club lead.

After winning the opening diamond lead in hand Rick led a spade to the eight and jack, which held. There seemed to be no chance of guarding against spadeK108x in the West hand, for to lead a low spade from dummy would allow West to win and switch to a club, promoting spade10. Besides, this would give up all chance of an overtrick........
