The contract is dead. As Simon says, a club lead defeats 6NT as the ace is dislodged from declarer's hand prematurely. As long as West keeps a club winner he can afford to throw a heart - try it and see.

The other e-mail came from Dick Pathan, who had been the unfortunate declarer. Dick was agonising about having misplayed the hand, but he need not have been so downhearted. Not only had East, Geoff Shaw, found the brilliant club lead to beat 6NT, but West, Hugh Cairns had also discarded in card perfect fashion.
