! heart suit

How about winning clubA and follow with a low heart to the nine? If East wins and switches to spades to force the dummy you will ruff, cash heartK, return to hand with diamondA and draw the rest of the trumps. Now you run the rest of the minor suit winners and make eleven tricks if diamondQ comes down. In all you make three hearts, a spade ruff, four clubs and two top diamonds. +420 is highly unlikely to be a top, but it might produce a useful score if 3NT is going down.

If East cleverly continues with a club when in with heartJ then you will have to find diamondQ to make ten tricks - but at least you have nore chance than the 3NT declarers!
