* Weak (?)

. . . the intrepid Brian Senior opened with a weak(!) 2spade as South. Having seen some of Brian's weak openings before I can only conclude that he meant to open 2club! Anyway the bidding proceeded 2spade-2NT-3NT-6heart. 2NT was an enquiry, 3NT showed a maximum with spadeAKQ and 6heart was a practical shot in the dark. 6heart didn't have the flexibility of 6NT and North (Steve Ray) was on a sticky wicket from the beginning. For our non cricketing friends that means it was not going to be easy, and 6heart finished one down.
