No, there was still one parachute remaining. Declarer led spadeJ from dummy and successfully pinned the nine in East's hand. He therefore lost only the three top tricks that East originally held. A safe landing after all.

I wonder why when East was in with spadeH he didn't return another club to give declarer a guess? Should he ruff high with the ace, or would heartJ be OK . . . .?
