South could duck at trick one, but at the table declarer found a beautiful little line that did indeed prepare for a squeeze and also gave him an extra chance. He won the opening lead in hand and cashed ace, jack and king of clubs. When the clubs broke he crossed back to hand with diamondK to lead a small spade, ducking when West played low. Not only was the rectification now right for a squeeze but, more importantly, East had been stripped of black cards and was end-played into opening up a red suit. Now isn't that a little gem?
