West played king, ace and a low spade with the intention of ruffing in hand, crossing to dummy with a trump and ruffing out the spades if necessary. He then aimed to cross to dummy again with dummy's last trump. If the trumps had divided then the establshied spade(s) would be a parking space for the club loser. If trumps were unkind then he would resort to the heart finesse.

When I read the write-up it looked to me like there was a better line - do you agree?
