Dble End
If North becomes declarer in a diamond contract - quite possible given the number of different conventions flying around, there is the potential for a minor classic piece of defence by West. The bidding sequence is completely engineered, but say East leads Kheart against 5diamond doubled. When that holds he continues with the queen, but now West must reason that East would have led a small one having started with heartKQx, so he overtakes the queen and gives his partner a ruff. Bravo!

Had West failed to overtake then 5diamond can be made. North, a mercurial card player renowned throughout the whole of Goadby Marwood, population approximately 100, would have drawn trumps and dropped doubleton spadeQ offside. South's losing heart then goes on North's spades.
