At the table East found the worst lead possible - spade10. Declarer naturally ran this around to the jack and cashed diamondA. Although East's false-card persuaded declarer to shift suits, the initial lead was too much for the defence to overcome and a heart towards dummy's queen eventually gave North nine tricks.
