It's an often quoted maxim is that you should remove partner's double where you are void in the potential trump suit. Here West was confident of defeating 4heart but not convinced that a non vulnerable penalty would be sufficient compensation for a vulnerable game, and so pressed on to 5diamond, which became the final contract.
