The normal Acol invitational bid of 3spade is a very blunt instrument .. how is South to intelligently evaluate his values without the aid of some gadget or additional bidding understanding? Just imagine how a contract 4spade would look with reversed red suits in the South hand! Maybe a second suit bid from North over partner's 1NT should be an unconditional one round force.
