Looking more closely at the hand, it looks like almost any defence other than kicking off with a high trump beats 4diamond. Although South can manoeuvre to ruff two spades in dummy and throw the low heart loser on clubA, eventually declarer must lose four trump tricks. Try it!

What about the bidding?! South's 4diamond qualifies as one of the non-bids of the year, but that will be no consolation if you allow then to score 710 or, as happened at the table, 910.
