2NT has a certain inhibitory effect doesn't it - but when was the last time you had twelve cards in two suits after a 2NT opener? At the table South decided to let 4heart stand, hoping that the diabolical distributions might be too much for declarer. Of course he was hoping specifically for a spade lead, and his partner did not let him down.
