You might well choose to play exactly as declarer did at the table. He won clubA, came to hand via a spade ruff and led heartJ. When North's king proved to be a singleton West had to abandon trumps for the time being to establish the diamonds. Now it was routine for the defence to get a diamond ruff and the contract failed.
