South won and led a spade to the king, ducked. West won the spade continuation and switched to .. clubs. Whatever the opposition did now declarer was a tempo ahead - able to duck a second club, unblocking the ten, and use the fourth club as a late entry to diamondQ and spadeJ. West would have been better advised to win spadeA at trick one and switch to a heart immediately. If declarer ducks, as is likely, East can see that by continuing with hearts declarer is virtually marooned in dummy and must concede two hearts, two clubs and spadeA.

What could I have done differently?
