West has rather naively shown himself to have either singleton diamondA or possibly diamondAx - otherwise why would he make such an orthodox lead of dummy's suit? We need to keep East off lead, but if West has the latter diamond holding maybe we can induce an indiscretion by leading another towards dummy, so win the club and lead a second diamond. If West ruffs this we can establish the suit while keeping East inactive and eventually establish the fifth diamond.
