In the other room, South doubled East's 13-15 No Trump opening and North punted 4heart, a much inferior contract to 4spade. The very favourable heart position was just what North needed and after East had failed to find the spade lead (or diamond lead with a spade switch) he lost merely one heart, one spade and one diamond. Plus 420 and 11 IMPs to Italy.
