Simon Stokes, amongst others, suggested this almost foolproof line: Win the spade, diamondA, ruff a low diamond and a trump to hand to confirm them no worse than 3-1. Ruff a diamond, ruff a spade, ruff a diamond, ruff a spade, draw trumps and claim. So much better!

And if West destroys the entry position by finding a club lead originally (best) .......?
