The play in 5club is more straightforward. Declarer won spadeK, finessed clubQ and exited with a heart to maintain communications. On the spade continuation he rose with the king and played a trump to the ace. When spadeQ failed to come down and the trumps refused to break West reverted to plan C by playing a diamond to the queen and finessing diamond10. These heroics were unnecessary when diamondJ dropped anyway, for there was plenty of time to ditch dummy's losing spades and ruff spade5 in dummy.

So 5club is OK ...... and 4spade?
