At the table North chose 3spade, but I don't like it. Mind you, I don't much like anything else on this hand either, but I prefer 3diamond as the least of all evils - even at pairs . Other alternatives might be 3heart and Pass, although the latter might stretch partnership unity. 3diamond would have propelled North-South into a sensible, if probably unsuccessful, game of 5diamond, but South decided to bid 4spade over his partner's raise and West doubled to complete the bidding.

How would you play this lovely contract on lead of king and queen of clubs. (East-West's lead style was king from ace-king.)
