It will not have escaped your notice that not only is 6 a vastly inferior contract (i.e. about 0.1%) compared to 6
, but also that Simon did not exactly find the ideal lead. Hard-line correpondents were quick to point this out and one even added the knife-twisting " ..gets what he deserves". Bridge can be a very cruel game.
