I would have thought a low (or even high) trump lead from diamondJ107 against a grand slam would have been quite possible, whereas a trump from diamondJ7 does not look attractive, but my good friend ignored both this pointer and the Principle of Restricted Choice to play for the drop. Although a potential +10 IMPs became -14, I wish to retain a good friend and avoid a pitiful stretcher of my own, so East's identity remains undisclosed. Unless he fails to pay up.
