No, the real problems occurred at the other table. Dummy won diamondA at trick one and spadeQ from the dummy. This was a good hand for the North-South methods of suit preference in trumps but they mixed up their signals. diamond6 at trick one and spade3 at trick two were enough to convince North to switch to clubs at trick three. Not only did this allow declarer to draw trumps, it also gave him four club tricks and the contract. This deal was one the killer blows in the final reckoning
