Gary reached 4spade via the obvious, but vulgar route. After a heart lead and diamond discard on heartA, declarer finessed diamondQ and South won to continue hearts. East ruffed, cashed diamondA and ruffed a diamond in dummy. After ruffing a heart in hand, with North throwing a club, clubAK and a club ruffed with spadeK were followed by another heart. North had already under-ruffed once by this stage and whatever he attempted two spade tricks would be his limit. Declarer had timed the hand perfectly and East-West scored +620.
