Simon cashed clubA and gave me a club ruff. Ace and another heart put dummy on lead and spadeQ was passed to my ace - declarer throwing a diamond. A diamond to the ace was followed by another club ruff, and there was still time for another heart trick. +500.

I assumed that South's "thin" overcall had received its just reward and that this would be a very good result for us, but I had reckoned without Mr. Duddle.
