East makes the hand whenever both black suits are 3-2 and most of the time when a black queen is singleton. Relative to the alternative line of crossing to spadeA and taking the club finesse, the recommended line will lose when clubQxxx are onside, but I did wonder about whether it is slightly better to cash one top club, cross to spadeA and lead a club from dummy. This retains some hope when clubQxxx are offside, although I suspect that assistance would be required from the defence.
