. . . what about other possibilities? Well one thought might be to cash some hearts. A naive West who shows out on the second round might throw a revealing discard - say spade2 or diamond6. He'd might regret it, for now you'd probably play a diamond. Of course, if the hearts prove to be 3-3 then there will be no need for heroics, when switching to diamonds makes nine tricks 100%.

So, all those who plopped diamond3 on the table score +630 and those who cross to dummy to lead a small spade score -100, for East is bound to be a see-through-the-cards defender who hops up with spadeA and leads clubJ.

Virtue must be its own reward on this hand. You hate it don't you?
