Whatever else you did I hope it was not to place diamond3 on the table. It cannot be right. You've made a complete guess about the whereabouts of the two missing aces. What you need to avoid is allowing East to win the first ace and leading a club while West retains the other ace. It must be better to go to dummy with a heart and lead towards hand. With what? If you lead a spade and East plays low the contract is assured, for if West wins his clubs are dead. If West plays low too, you immediately switch back to diamonds for your guaranteed nine tricks. The reason why a spade is better at trick three than a diamond is than you cannot guarantee three spades if you played a diamond to the third trick and the defence duck. So .
