As it is normal to lead second highest from rubbish partner will have a diamond honour - trouble is, which one? If it is the king then you can lead one back to West who will find the switch to a heart and 4spade will be two off. Dreamworld. You can give yourself a more realistic chance of success by inserting diamond10. South wins diamondK and attacks trumps, so you win spadeK, underlead your diamondA with diamond8 to partner's queen and the heart switch produces the happy ending - for East-West at least. Even if West did start with diamondKxx3, there is still the opportunity for the same ploy.
